Short overview of the TtT and Local Festival in Braga

As part of the Train the Trainer initiative, Casa do Professor organized a training session titled “Intercultural Understanding and Successful Integration of Young Migrants at School” involving 25 professionals responsible for non-formal education activities carried out in diverse educational environments, including those within formal education settings. The training introduced participants to innovative teaching materials developed by the project, including educational videos, methodological guidelines, an interactive website, and a digital exhibition. The primary objective was to equip youth workers with the skills to understand the role of public history in promoting inclusion and to encourage the adoption of more inclusive practices tailored to the needs of young migrants in schools.

A highlight of this initiative was the Local Intercultural Festival, which brought together over 50 participants, including students, teachers, and members of the local community. This vibrant event provided a platform for sharing experiences, traditions, and personal stories, fostering connections across generations, nationalities, and cultures. Participants showcased unique aspects of their heritage, ranging from music, dance, and traditional attire to the flavors of local and international cuisine. The festival stood out for fostering interaction, mutual understanding, and respect for cultural diversity, creating an atmosphere of empathy and unity.

Participation in these initiatives has strengthened inclusion and intercultural understanding by combining youth workers training with celebrations of diversity. These actions aim not only to prepare youth workers for the challenges of inclusive education but also to bring communities closer together by celebrating the cultural richness of each individual.
